Home/Maintenance Reminders/Reminder to Disconnect Your Dryer Exhaust to Prevent Lint From Building Up

After you disconnect your dryer exhaust, thoroughly clean the lintPart of keeping any drying machine performing is to check and clean out the built-in lint filter. A stuffed up filter prevents hot air from leaving the dryer, thus affecting its overall performance. It’s also worth mentioning that a clean lint filter can also extend the life of your drying machine.

But that’s just one step. It’s also a good idea to disconnect your dryer’s exhaust, and vacuum out any lint that might’ve passed through the filter. To do this, simply disconnect the dryer exhaust from the machine, your home vacuum cleaner should be able to get everything in there just fine. Also, while a lint filter should be checked every time you use your dryer, the exhaust should be checked at most a few times per year.

This is also a great opportunity to vacuum your dryer screen filter compartment as well. Lastly, you’ll want to double check the exhaust hood outside and remove any lint if necessary.
